CAN Bus Immobilizer Security System for Audi
The CAN Bus Immobilizer is an advanced security system designed to prevent car theft and hijacking. This device integrates with the vehicle’s power supply and connects to one or two digital CAN buses. While one CAN bus is sufficient for standard functionality, connecting a second CAN bus unlocks additional features.
Blocking the engine by bypassing the car’s sensors usually triggers errors in the Engine Control Unit (ECU), which are visible on the instrument cluster and can accumulate over time. These errors can be detected by official service providers. In contrast, blocking the engine via the CAN bus does not produce any errors.
To deactivate the immobilizer, a specific code must be entered using the standard buttons on the steering wheel, such as the CRUISE CONTROL or BC button. If the correct code is not entered, the engine remains blocked by a CAN bus signal. The factory-set PIN code is 112.
Successful entry of the PIN code is confirmed by the flashing hazard lights on the instrument cluster.
